Early school days stay vididly in my memory,as I suppose they do for everyone.I reccollect clearly walking to school on a sunny day along a tree lined surburban road with the smell of boiling tar hanging heavily in the air. The workmen were gathered around a brazier cooking breakfast, sausage and eggs maybe?

The food was being cooked on a SHOVEL.Yes it's true. It was common practice

in the 1930's.the shovel was burnished and used as a frying pan.
